"Service, promotion, public service, live radio with
interviews, are equally important in my life.
It started when I was glued to the radio. My mother and her
writing partner wrote a daily radio program hosted by the
late Jim Ameche in Chicago. Actually, most of my friends
were more interested in movies and television.
This fascination led me to my first job with WBBM in Chicago
at the age of 17. I worked there summers both in high school
and college; you couldn't drag me away. I even spent my
Christmas vacations doing anything they would let me do.
When I decided to take the job full time my mother
encouraged me to take a job offer with the Los Angeles
times. She even paid my way to LA.
I married, relocated to Atlanta, then Nashville (at WKDA)
and radio was once again in my life.

My boss at WKDA (Nashville) used to joke, "throw her a
microphone and she'll go with it". I did broadcasts from
shopping centers, lawn and garden shows, the disc jockey
convention, and then my big break came... I did a live show
Monday thru Friday from Ed and Patsy Bruce's restaurant. We
called it “Noontime Nashville”. Hosting this program was a
wonderful experience. I not only learned more about the
community I lived in, but also about the many characters to
be found there.
Noontime Nashville was about the community, about the stars,
the writers & producers. Having learned from that
experience, we will be making Noontime Payson about the
community, our stars, the people who make things happen. The
program will focus on the needs of and resources for
seniors, but also highlight the parents who guide their
children and the people who lend their expertise to
government, community service organizations, working behind
the scenes in many ways, the teachers, Artists, musicians,
creative business ventures, entrepreneurs. We will be
broadcasting the program live from Main Street Grille (each
Tuesday, beginning June third). We want to have the intimate
atmosphere the Grill offers, a place for our residents to
bring out-of-town guests who we know are vital to the
community. It is a dream for me to put together an
opportunity for many.
KCMA and its management stand for all the things that mean a
lot to me. I look forward to working with community
projects. Helping businesses in their plans, and once again
having time to stay involved with non-profits and their
wonderful causes. Life is good".
